Detail
Product Overview
PURRFIP™ GS-441524 Tablets are high-purity, oral antiviral tablets specially formulated for the treatment of Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) in cats with a body weight of 2kg, including both 2kg kittens (over 8 weeks old) and 2kg adult cats. As a potent nucleoside analog, this product targets and inhibits the replication of the feline coronavirus (FCoV) that causes FIP, a previously nearly fatal disease, providing a safe and convenient treatment option for affected 2kg felines. With a fixed 35mg strength, it is precisely dosed for 2kg cats, eliminating the need for manual dosage splitting, and its oral form greatly simplifies administration, making it more acceptable for cats and more convenient for cat owners compared to injectable formulations.Key Specifications
- Strength: 35mg per tablet (each tablet contains 35 milligrams of pure GS-441524, precisely formulated to match the dosage needs of cats weighing 2kg, ensuring accurate and effective treatment without dosage adjustment. The fixed strength avoids the risk of underdosing or overdosing caused by manual splitting, which is safer for 2kg felines of all ages.)
- Applicable Objects: Specifically designed for cats with a body weight of 2kg, suitable for 2kg kittens (over 8 weeks old, healthy physical condition) and 2kg adult cats of all breeds, including senior cats weighing 2kg. The formula is gentle and compatible with the physiological characteristics of 2kg felines, avoiding excessive drug concentration or insufficient efficacy, and is well-tolerated even for cats with mild gastrointestinal sensitivity.
- Purity: ≥99.4%, with a stable formula.
- Form: White or off-white, round, smooth surface, easy to swallow or crush and mix with food. The film coating protects the active ingredient from degradation by gastric acid, ensuring that GS-441524 is fully absorbed in the intestinal tract, and improves the palatability of the tablet to make administration easier for cat owners. The tablet is small in size, suitable for 2kg cats to swallow, and can also be easily crushed for cats that are reluctant to take tablets directly.
- Dissolution Rate: Dissolves quickly in water or cat food, with a dissolution rate of over 90% within 30 minutes, ensuring rapid absorption and fast onset of action, consistent with the therapeutic needs of FIP cats. The rapid dissolution also ensures that the active ingredient is fully released and absorbed, maximizing the therapeutic effect for 2kg felines.
Indications & Efficacy
PURRFIP™ GS-441524 35mg tablet is indicated for the treatment of all forms of Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) in 2kg cats, including effusive (wet) FIP, non-effusive (dry) FIP, as well as FIP with ocular or neurological complications. It acts by mimicking RNA building blocks to block the replication of the FIP virus (FIPV), effectively suppressing viral activity, reducing inflammation, and preventing further damage to the cat’s immune system, liver, kidneys, and other vital organs. It is suitable for both initial treatment and adjuvant treatment of FIP in 2kg cats, helping to improve the survival rate of affected cats.Clinical data shows that GS-441524 has an overall treatment success rate of over 92% in 2kg cats, with higher success rates in early-stage FIP cases and young 2kg kittens. Most 2kg cats show obvious improvement within 24-72 hours of taking the tablets, such as reduced persistent fever, increased appetite, improved mental state, and gradual resolution of abdominal effusion (in wet FIP) or granulomatous lesions (in dry FIP). With a standard 12-week treatment course, it helps 2kg cats regain weight, restore normal immune function, and achieve full remission in most cases, helping them return to a healthy state. For cats with severe neurological or ocular FIP, the tablets can effectively alleviate symptoms and improve the quality of life during treatment.Dosage & Administration
Administer orally once daily, 7 days a week, under the guidance of a veterinarian. The dosage is fixed for cats weighing 2kg, without the need for manual adjustment, as follows:- Wet/Dry FIP (without ocular/neurological signs): 1 tablet (35mg) per day, taken orally at the same time every day. It is recommended to take the tablet on an empty stomach or 1 hour after meals to improve absorption.
- Ocular FIP (without neurological signs): 1 tablet (35mg) per day, taken orally; if necessary, the dosage may be adjusted under veterinary supervision according to the cat’s specific condition, such as the severity of ocular lesions.
- Neurological FIP (with or without ocular signs): 1 tablet (35mg) per day, taken orally; for severe cases, the veterinarian may recommend adjusting the dosage based on the cat’s response to treatment and physical condition to ensure optimal therapeutic effect.
Administration Guide: There are two convenient administration methods for cats: 1. Directly feed the tablet to the cat, followed by a small amount of water to help swallow; 2. Crush the tablet into powder, mix it with a small amount of cat food, canned food, or warm water, and feed it to the cat to avoid rejection. Do not mix with acidic foods (such as citrus, yogurt) as it may affect the stability of the active ingredient. If the cat misses a dose, do not double the next dose; resume the regular dosage schedule at the next scheduled time. Ensure the cat takes the full dose each time to maintain stable blood drug concentration.Precautions & Contraindications
Contraindications
Do not use in cats allergic to GS-441524 or any of the ingredients in the product (including microcrystalline cellulose, lactose, etc.). Do not use in cats weighing less than 2kg, as the fixed 35mg dosage may be excessive and cause adverse reactions.Precautions
- For veterinary use only. Strictly follow the veterinarian’s advice for dosage and treatment duration; do not arbitrarily reduce the dosage or stop treatment early, as this may lead to treatment failure, virus rebound, or relapse of FIP.
- Pregnant or lactating cats weighing 2kg should consult a veterinarian before use, as the potential risks and benefits need to be carefully evaluated to avoid adverse effects on kittens.
- Avoid concurrent administration with lysine (which may antagonize the effect of GS-441524) or interferon (which is ineffective for FIP treatment). If the cat needs to take other medications at the same time, consult a veterinarian first to avoid drug interactions.
- Common side effects include mild gastrointestinal discomfort (such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or decreased appetite), which usually subside on their own within 1-2 days. In rare cases, allergic reactions (rash, itching, difficulty breathing) or temporary changes in liver function may occur. If any abnormal signs appear, stop administration immediately and consult a veterinarian.
- Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children and other pets. Unopened packages can be stored for up to 2 years when kept at 3-9°C; opened packages should be sealed and used within 30 days to ensure potency.
- For 2kg cats with severe FIP and poor appetite, if the cat refuses to take the tablet, consult a veterinarian for alternative administration methods, and do not force-feed to avoid choking.
